Global expansion and product portfolio enhancement have remained key drivers for M&A in the flow products market through 2013. Nowhere was this clearer than with Emerson Electric Co's acquisition of Virgo Engineers Ltd, a manufacturer of ball valves and automation systems in India. In addition to ball valves, Virgo also specialises in the production of high-performance butterfly valves and severe-service valves for critical applications. The company serves customers in the mining, oil and gas and power industries in particular.
