Control valves have a significant effect on raw material and energy consumption as well as on the end-product quality of process plants. It is economically well justified to ensure that control valves perform at their optimum level. Valve diagnostics built into pneumatic smart positioners provide a powerful tool for keeping control valves in profitable shape, while retaining the possibility to optimise their maintenance costs.
