Actuation in a processing system

In Process Automation we have seen various new actuating systems with a more or less different approach on how to operate and actuate a process valve. What are the expectations of end users & operators in a valve drive/actuating system? Basically we have two completely different actuating directions - the linear movement and the rotary movement. Rotary movement is split into two subcategories which must be specified and detailed - rotary movement with a minimum of 1 or more turns and the part-turn action which is below 1 turn per travel.
