摘要

The shortage of transplantable organs has prompted the possible use of donors with certain diseases - usually neo-plastic or infections - that were previously eliminated because of the risk of disease transmission to the recipient. The Editors of Transplantation are pleased to present this journal supplement devoted to analysis of the risk of disease transmission from deceased donors in large European national organ transplant networks. These papers represent the proceedings of a symposium on the risk of cancer transmission after solid organ transplantation held in Rome in June 2007.
