IN 1613 James I gave permission to establish a market and grant a corporation to the town of Belturbet in County Cavan, Northern Ireland. Pleasantly seated on the banks of the River Erne the town's history did not reflect it's idyllic and tranquil settings. The town, at various periods, suffered much from aggressions and commotions particularly from the insurgents in 1641, who were then ravaging and plundering the country compelling the habitants to fly from the bridge of Belturbet, along the river Erne to take refuge in Crom Castle. It is across this historic river path that McAllister Bros Ltd completed its latest rock installation contract for a 315 mm diameter bore.
