Ankara now the centre of MAN and Neoplan bus and coach production

Next year will see Germany's MAN Truck & Bus AG of Munich celebrate 50 years of commercial vehicle production in Turkey, where its plant in Ankara has become the centre of bus and coach manufacture for the MAN Group. MAN states Ankara is now its most advanced bus manufacturing facility - which last month saw it launch a new bus called MAN Lion's Intercity for the large European standard intercity coach segment (see separate article in this issue) - responsible for manufacturing both MAN and Neoplan brand city and intercity buses and touring coaches and which, is also MAN's largest bus and coach manufacturing plant. The Ankara facility provides employment for 1,600 at the 320,000 sq m plant of which around 1,000 people are involved in the construction process says MAN; this includes electricians, mechanics, engineers, paint operatives, welders and other output specialists.
