UK - While many of the tipper and tanker manufacturers reported strong order books and long lead times (with some trailer builders' with build times as far out as November this year at TipCon/TipEx 2016 in Harrogate last month) many of the truck, tipper and tanker builders were reporting a distinct slowdown in orders in the build-up to the Brexit vote on June 23. Uncertainty over its effect on the economy is causing customers to put off purchasing decisions. However, as the organisers of the show pointed out, with potentially vast government contracts being tendered in the next few years - such as HS2 (high speed rail 2), Hinkley Point (a new nuclear power station in North Somerset), the Thames Tideway Tunnel (a new mega sewer for London), a new airport runway at either Heathrow or Gatwick airports as well as a number of other major infrastructure projects - contracts that will last for many years with many billions of pounds invested, these should create substantial demand for aggregate and muck-away tippers, tipping trailers, tankers and other construction equipment.
