With sales of around 700 cars a year it's not unreasonable to think that the Arnage would play a supporting role to the big-selling Continental models at Bentley. Not one bit: the Arnage is still seen as the key model in the range, and it enters 2007 with a new dynamic package. Unlike the younger 4WD Continental range, the Arnage remains rear-driven. Bentley's functional manager for steering, suspension, and vehicle dynamics, Keith Sharpe, claims that even with the 500bhp and l,000Nm output of the Arnage T (the R and RL delivering a more modest 450bhp and 875Nm), rear-wheel-drive will continue to be used. It does, however, provide some unique challenges for the dynamic team, particularly as the Arnage must offer the refinement that customers expect from a Bentley, yet maintain a sporting character.
