摘要

This paper deals with the concept, development and performance evaluation/investigations of a new generation Double Decker High Precision Rolling-Element Bearing (DDHPB). The paper brings alit the basic design concept of DDHPB and establishes that the use of two pairs of rolling-element series one riding on an other and separated by the rotating intermediate race in between them facilitates to use it for moderate speed applications for better performance and lower losses. Theoretical analysis of DDHPB has shown that the reduction of speed of intermediate rotating rare to that of the shaft speed reduces operating temperature and frictional torque of the DDHPB bearing as compared to the equivalent conventional bearing of the same shaft diameter. This has also been established by the experimental investigations.
