摘要

This work involved dynamic mechanical analysis and study of the tribological properties of natural rubber (NR) filled with fly ash silica (FASi) and precipitated silica (PSi). Weight fractions of FASi:PSi used were 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100. The friction and wear of the rubbers were determined using a ball-on-disc tribometer. Mechanical properties of the FASi/PSi-filled NR compounds were improved with increasing PSi fraction, resulting in a decrease in tan δ_(max). A 75% PSi fraction was recommended for optimal mechanical properties and wear resistances of FASi/PSi-filled NR vulcanizates. However, the coefficient of friction increased with increasing PSi fraction.
