Light rail's large influence in Manchester is increasing further with two new extensions to the Metrolink network opening later this year. Manchester's Metrolink is seeking to double the number of journeys made within four years and become three times larger in size compared to when it first opened two decades ago. A series of new and extended routes are currently being built and tested - and more are planned. But try not to refer to Metrolink as a tram.
