A successful airport pavement reconstruction solution created out of expediency in the Falklands is now being offered to UK operators looking to improve their sustainability record and save money. Contractor Colas developed the option that reduces material use, waste and construction time. It has already proved its worth on the resurfacing of taxiways at Newquay Airport in Cornwall where the job was rated excellent by civil engineering's environmental quality assessment scheme CEEQUAL. The works in the Falklands also recently picked up a top prize at this year's CEEQUAL awards.
