Opinion and Economics of Farm Women of Community Milking Centers on Improved Dairy Management Practices

摘要

The research study was conducted in Mandya district of Karnataka with a sample size of 135 farm women of nine community milking centers. The findings reveals that majority of dairy farm women using community milking machines are middle aged, had medium level education, family size, family income, extension contact, decision making, scientific orientation, management orientation and owned medium number of animals and experience in rearing animals. In addition majority of them are marginal farmers andundergone training. Further, majority of them had high mass media exposure, organization participation, economic motivation and risk orientation. Majority of dairy farm women also had low achievement orientation, low and high cosmopoliteness and medium to high extension participation. Dairy farming is profitable even with medium level of adoption of package of practices. Thus 'the dairy farm women could further increase the level of profitability in dairying by following improved dairy management practices and a great majority of dairy farm women (99.26 %) had perceived "hygiene milk production" as the main advantage of milking machine.
