SEASONAL WORK

As one season changes into another, regardless of what line of work we are in, we find ourselves weighing the benefits of the coming season against its inherent disadvantages. We compare the outgoing time of year to the new one, and reflect on which is better from the standpoint of our professions. With indoor professions, the main focus is sales. We consider how the coming season will affect the bottom line. Those of us who toil under the open skies, however, think about the physical punishment or the relief that each season brings with it. Our reprieves come in the spring and fall, when temperatures moderate and nature gifts us with the most tolerable of working conditions. At these times of year, no special preparations have to be made in order to get the job done - not with our tools, not with our service vehicles, not with our clothing or anything else. Things are as they should be, and everything functions in the environment for which it was designed to function.
