In the four years I've been at the helm of Quanta Services, we have experienced significant growth in our electric transmission and distribution business. Most areas of the country are operating with infrastructure that is aging and built to serve the population centers of 60 years ago, not the population centers of today. To ensure that electricity delivery remains reliable and secure, the grid must be modernized. Regulation to address aging infrastructure replacement, energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction is driving our business. The switch from coal-fired generation to natural gas generation, the integration of renewable generation, critical infrastructure investment programs and smart grid technology rollouts, to name a few, have increased utility investment in electric infrastructure this decade to unprecedented levels in the history of our industry.
