A hand driven fibre carding device includes a needle covered feed roller which cards the fibres and feeds them onto a needle covered delivery roller. The peripheral speed of the delivery roller is at least five times the speed of the feed roller. The metal needles on the feed roller have points inclined in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the feed roller. The metal needles on the delivery roller have points inclined in the direction of rotation of the delivery roller. Fibres can be carded and separated by a single passage over the carding device.
