Linking a continent interconnecting Queensland to the national grid is good for Australia but even better for Queensland

The Queensland-NSW interconnector began commercial operation in March 2001 and is initially set at a transfer capacity of 300 MW northward and southward. This transfer capacity is expected to increase following additional tests. When fully commissioned, the interconnector will be capable of exporting up to 700 MW south to NSW and importing 500 MW north from NSW, depending on system conditions. With the completion of the Millerran Power Station in 2003, depending on system conditions, the power transfer capacity to NSW is expected to increase to 1000 MW.D
