Dick Eussen has been giving the Top End barra a hard time by enticing them on Mann lures, which he reckons they're suckers for. These top-rated lures have taken a back step in the last few years, but JM Gillies has taken over the distribution and Mannlures are set to reclaim lost ground after winning many northern barra and blue water tournaments across the tropic seas and wild, tidal rivers. I love Mann lures, as they have always produced fish for me in all seasons, but my fondest memories are using 10cm Boofbaits in the rushing waters of the Kakadu run-off season. Catching up to 50 or more barra a day may sound boring, but barra are the most exciting fish on earth and every hit is a guess on how big it is, how hard it is going to fight, if you will land or lose it - or the lure. Every barra is different, and that's what makes barra fishing so special - questions and hope - because nothing is over until the fish is in the boat.
