Early May saw the Sydney Sea Bees Boating Club host its annual Lake Lyell ANSA Fishing convention with one of the strongest ever turnouts of anglers for the ANSA circuit event. A total 136 anglers participated in the catch-and-release competition from18 clubs. The venue again was the Lake Lyell Reserve on the outskirts of Lithgow. The weather was kind with heavy and cold dew on Friday evening warmer days on Saturday and Sunday. Wind did create some issues for trolling, especially with the wind direction being up the lake from the dam. However, on the plus side the dam was at maximum capacity and with the convention a little later in the year, the water was just starting to cool. Results were even better than last year with a total of 58 fish caughtand only two fish retained. There are three species of fish caught in this lake being brown trout, rainbow trout and bass.
