Barramundi lures

The Daintree River, north of PortDouglas, will always have a softspot for me. It's where I caught my first-ever barramundi on a Bellbrook lure. This was long before fishing writer; Vic McCristal headed north and started to inform his readers in Fishing and Outdoors magazine about barramundi lure fishing.The only available lure available was the Bellbrook Swayback, and Australian-made two-piece wobbler. It wasn't that good as it had poor hooks and barra would rip it apart -guaranteed if you hooked a big one on a handline. In the mid-sixties we were importing ABU Killers, Rapala Countdowns and Hi-Lo's, and French Floppies, along with a vast range of Mepps and Dickson spinners and the like. McCristal made the Swedish ABU Killer, a minnow-like lure, famous and it was copied by many of today modern lures.
