Getting WIRED

As a marine 'sparkie' it's not often that you get a blank canvas to work on, but when you do, it's quite a challenge. Recently, I received a call from a charter boat owner who was taking delivery of his brand new eight-metre Hydrofield hull. The dealer originally was going to do the wiring but when he pulled out I was called in to wire the boat, install the electronics and get everything up to survey standard. Local Melbourne angler Joe Branca was the boat owner. He'd just sold his successful restaurant and decided that he wanted to continue his passion for fishing by starting up a charter fishing business. Having previously owned a 5m Hydrofield Jaguar he was convinced these are the most stable boats and so had purchased a Hydrofield 8m built to 2C survey standard. Naturally, this boat is very well-built and this showed up when I eventually got to inspect the boat to figure out what was needed.
