摘要

This paper deals with the scientific foundations of precision electrical discharge machining. An original research method was used. The influence of electrode gap on the erosion effect and the energy distribution between anode and cathode is examined, together with the role of delayed spark discharge initiation on the erosion effect. The results obtained in investigating the size and shape of erosion craters formed in different materials and the influence of the medium in the electrode gap on the erosion effect are discussed. The influence on the discharge machining process of specific discharge power on burr size and erosion effect is described, together with the conditions for erosion product evacuation. Conditions for and methods of voltage pulse formation that preclude development of electrochemical processes during machining in water are covered.
