摘要

An austenitic stainless steel containing 17% Cr and 12% Ni and a ferritic stainless steel containing 28% Cr and 3% Ni were implanted with nitrogen at 60 and 100 keV and implantation doses of 1 x 10(17), 4 x 10(17) and 1 x 10(18) N+ cm(-2). The nature of microstructural transformations was investigated, and two hardening mechanisms were identified: solid solution hardening in austenite and precipitation hardening in ferrite. The wear behaviour of the samples nitrided at 100 keV and 4 x 10(17) N+ cm(-2) under cyclic sliding motion was explained in correlation with their surface microstructure.
