Solvent extraction studies of copper were carried out from bioleach liquor using LIX 84. The bioleach liquor contained 0.54 g.dm~(-3) and 3.8 g.dm~(-3) of Cu and Fe respectively. The pH of the solution was 1.8. By using 7.5 percent LIX 84, in two stages Cu extraction was more than 95 percent at an A:O ratio of 3:1. At A:O ratio of 3:1 the solvent utilisation was calculated to be around 100 percent. Stripping of loaded organic was carried out at A:O ratio of 1:5 using spent electrolyte containing 160 g.dm~(-3) and 35 g.dm~(-3) of H_2SO_4 and Cu respectively. In a counter current extraction and stripping studies, the extraction and stripping efficiency was 95 and 100 percent respectively. The coextraction of iron was only 0,015 g.dm~(-3). In the entire operation the copper concentration was increased
