On 27 March 2014, TiZir declared that its first mine at Grande Cote had opened and that the wet concentrator plant had begun producing heavy mineral concentrates. A stockpile of wet concentrates will now be built up, ready for processing at the mineral separation plant during Q2 2014. TiZir Ltd., headquartered in London, is owned 50:50 by Mineral Deposits Ltd. (MDL, of Melbourne) and Eramet SA (of Paris). The company's Grande Cote assets consist of mineral sands mining and exploration rights along a coastal strip 50-150 km north of Dakar (Senegal). Four separate deposits have been identified, namely Diogo, Mboro, Fass Boye and Lompoul. Total measured and indicated resources here amount to 1.03 billion tonnes with an average heavy minerals content of 1.73% (assuming a cutoff grade at 1.25%). That translates to about 17.8 million tonnes of heavy minerals in situ.
