Making landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Monday 29 August, Katrina wreaked havoc along the US Gulf Coast, especially within and around the city of New Orleans. Floodwater damage to DuPont's DeLisle, Mississippi TiO_2 pigment plant was extensive. It will take until late December before the plant can be reopened and it will take until Spring 2006 before full-scale production can be restored here.
