Danofloxacin concentrations in the udder of healthy cows and of cows suffering from a subclinical mastitis following the parental administration of Advocid (R) 180. [German]

A dose of 6,0 mg / kg bodyweight was administered subcutaneously to 8 udder healthy cows once daily on three consecutive days, and to 21 udder healthy cows just once. 10 cows with subclinical mastitis were also treated once by subcutaneous administration. The average Danofloxacin concentrations 4 hours p. appl. in the udder tissue were 8,14 mug/g in the front quarters and 10,465 mug/g in the rear. The difference is explained by a stronger blood supply in the rear half of the udder. When treated 3 times at an interval of 24 hours, cows did not show any accumulation of Danofloxacin in the milk of healthy quarters. The excretion was linear: Thus, a prolongation of the withdrawal period beyond the required 4 days on milk is not necessary under daily treatment conditions. The three treatment regime did not show any influence on daily milk production.
