Perioperative fibrinolysis and duration of antifibrinolytic treatment

We would like to comment on the analysis of the results and the conclusions of the recent study by Blanie et al, Duration of postoperative fibrinolysis after total hip or knee replacement. A laboratory follow-up study [1]. The authors' aim was to investigate the kinetics and duration of the postoperative fibrintilytic phase in patients treated with the antifibrinolytic agent tranexamic acid (TXA), currently used in clinical practice in orthopedic surgery for reducing blood loss and allogeneic blood transfusion.
