Thrombosis is a rare event in the paediatric population and represents a different clinical and pathogenetic picture than in adults, so that prospective observation and national registries have been established [1,2]. While thrombosis shows a peak incidence in neonates and infants, these events occur more rarely in older children, in whom most cases recognize a causative feature and often the combination of many [3], These are congenital malformations, infections, severe anaemia, dehydration, trauma, thrombophilic traits, haematological disorders and very often malignancy.
