The table hereunder shows the results of competitive tenders called for by South Korean electric utilities for shipments in 2004. As seen from the table, the total tonnage of thermal coal procured on spot bases by five South Korean electric utilities through competitive tenders by June 2004 reached 13,557,000 MT (including partially approximate figures) composed of 2,340,000 MT by KOWEPO, 125,000 MT by KEWESPO, 1,462,000 MT by KOSPO, 4,905,000 MT by KOSEP and 3,600,000 MT by KOMIPO. The most part of thermal coal purchased by the electric utilities consisted of Indonesian and Australian coal with very little tonnage of Chinese coal.
