Baoshan Of China Secures COA's For 15 Mt/a Iron Ore Transport

Chinese Baoshan Iron and Steel appears to have concluded new COA's with Japanese and UK shipping companies to transport Brazilian and Western Australia's iron ore for a long-term period. Baoshan intends to transport 1.5 million tons per annum (Mt/a) of Brazilian iron ore and 1.2 Mt/a of Western Australia's, both for 10 - 12 years under the new COA's. Chinese steelmakers including Baoshan have been expanding with a surprisingly high pace since 2000, which has caused serious problems in securing iron ore and its transport.
