What China manufactured in October 2007 hit new highs for crude steel and pig iron respectively, according to announced data from the China Iron & Steel Association. China's crude steel production totaled 42,922,000 tons in October 2007, up 13.5 percent from a year ago (up 0.5 percent from a month ago), when its pig iron production totaled 40,842,000 tons, up 13.2 percent from a year ago (up 3.4 percent from a month ago. Its manufacture of steel products totaled 49,079,000 tons then, up 17.0 percent from a year ago (up 0.1 percent from a month ago).
