It has been decided that provisional export tax for Chinese metallurgical coal (HS Code No.: 2701.1210) would remain same at five percent from January 1, 2008. As reported at the other article in China provisional tax rate for export of coal coke is to be raised to 25 percent from 15 percent effective January 1, 2008. In consequence there surfaced a speculation that the provisional tax rate for metallurgical coal export as well would be raised, but eventually the tax raise for metallurgical coal has been passed over.
