Erdos has been constructing eight large electric furnaces (with transformer capacity of 25,000 KVA per furnace) in Qipanjing of Inner Mongolia Aut. Region of China and one electric furnace has started to operate with the first tapping performed on the 14th of July. These eight large electric furnaces are scheduled to be operated successively during August to October of this year. This is the first case in China to produce ferro-silicon by large electric furnaces and, at the same time, the reaction for refining in inside of furnace is developed smoothly by means of introducing rotary system of furnace bed.
