The average prices of LME nickel in December of 2005 were 13,429.25 US dollars per ton (6.091 US dollars per lb.) for cash and 13,537.25 US dollars per ton (6.140 US dollars per lb.) for three-month futures. The average prices of LME nickel in November of 2005 were the lowest ones in the year of 2005 but, reflecting the active LME copper price, which renewed everyday the highest one in December, and also the LME aluminum and zinc prices, which soared in December after an interval of 16 - 17 years, the funds concerned speculated on LME nickel in early December and, consequently, LME nickel prices rose to a higher level than 14,000 US dollars per ton after an interval of 3 months. However, these funds sold their LME nickel stocks to take a profit and, therefore, LME nickel prices fell in late December. Namely, LME nickel prices as of the 30th December were 13,380 US dollars per ton (6.07 US dollars per lb.) for cash and 13,480 US dollars per ton (6.11 US dollars per lb.) for three-month futures.
