Inco Constructs Nickel Refinery In Dalian / China As First Plant

Inco of Canada announced on the 5th of May (local time) to construct a new plant in Dalian of Liaoning Province in China for the production of UTILITY nickel, a refined form of nickel product for the special needs of the stainless steel industry, and will invest 63 million US dollars in this construction. This construction work is expected to commence in July - September quarter of 2006 and to complete in the first half of 2008. A new plant will have the capacity to 32,000 tons per annum of nickel and nickel intermediate as raw material will be supplied from the Goro nickel project in New Caledonia under development and so on. The new plant is intended to supply nickel to the stainless steel industry of China, which is growing rapidly.
