Back off with all the hand wringing over the demise of Eastman Kodak. On Jan. 19 the Wall Street Journal spread the news that Kodak had declared Chapter 11. No, it wasn't the fact that the company is located in a one-company town, Rochester, N.Y. It wasn't the fact that the digital camera replaced film; Kodak recognized digital and in 1975 became the early developer of that new technology. In fact, it is the owner of most of the patents for those developments. It wasn't, as Kodak CEO Antonio M. Perez said, the fault of Kodak's competitors.
