MeadWestvaco (MWV), Richmond, Va., is one of three companies named as defendants in a lawsuit filed this month by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which seeks to enforce an order that the companies share in the 1.9 million cost of landfill cleanup, The Roanoke (Va.) Times reports.MWV, Hercules and Honeywell International dumped their hazardous waste in the Kim-Stan landfill in Virginia's Alleghany County, the EPA argues in documents filed in U.S. District Court in Roanoke, Va. The companies should share in the cost of cleaning up the toxic site, it states.
