An increasing number of institutional produce packagers in Washington and Oregon are moving to use recyclable or biodegradable packaging, reports The Packer. Ron Haas, owner of R&R Brokerage Inc., Portland, Ore., says the industry has changed as "everyone is trying to be as green as possible." The trend is partially motivated by preference and partially by a Porriand, Ore., ban on polystyrene containers.
