As manager of the American Sugar Cane League I often have the opportunity to travel and represent the Louisiana sugar industry on the national and international stage.In late February and early March I traveled to Washington, D.C. with several of our members to meet with Congressmen, Senators and their staffs to educate them about the U.S. sugarcane industry.I commend the farmers and millers who take time out their schedules to meet with government officials who shape farm policy. It sounds somewhat glamorous but there are a lot of "waiting to wait" moments and it's often frustrating to try to make our point on what seems to be deaf ears.
