摘要

A numerical scheme is developed to simulate three-dimensional dynamics of a flexible riser, which is forced to move irregularly at its top end. In this scheme, the vortex induced vibration (VIV) was concerned with introducing the numerical lift force model. This scheme was verified by the experimental results. In experiments, the top end of a flexible riser model was forced to oscillate irregularly in still water. For the irregular motion of the top end, the surging motion of the floating structure was assumed to be induced by waves. Finally, to validate the accuracy of this numerical scheme, the numerical and experimental results were compared and showed good agreement.
