The Many Faces of AAPT

One of the things that strikes me most about AAPT is the many faces of our organization. Our members share a devotion to learning and teaching physics, but that commitment manifests itself in many different ways, from fundamental research on student understanding of physics, to development of educational technologies, physics teacher preparation and curriculum development, sharing cutting-edge science with our students and the world outside our classrooms, enhancing opportunities and advancing equity for physics students and teachers of all kinds, and the simple desire to interact with col-leagues to address the concerns of our field. Still another face of AAPT is that of the Executive Office staff. In their case, the commitment to physics teachers and physics teaching comes in the form of marketing AAPT and keeping it moving forward in challenging times that call for innovation in how we publish our journals, keep our members informed, run meetings, and provide other services to our growing and increasingly diverse membership, not to mention interact with organizations with overlapping interests.
