摘要

Atopic dermatitis (AD) whether in dogs or humans is a chronic, frustrating disease to have or, in the case of children and dogs, for adults to manage. In a recent article Adelaide A. Hebert, MD declared 'The biggest frustration I hear from patients isthat they want something that will take the condition away and keep it from ever coming back, and we do not have that type of treatment to offer them'. Furthermore, 'Though we might educate patients very carefully that the disease will come back, they are always disappointed. It is very frustrating for these families to have a child who has a chronic disease that makes them miserable. It is frustrating for adults as weir (Salgo et al., 2003). This feeling is no different in veterinary medicine for clients with dogs with atopic dermatitis. So attempts are constantly being made to find that 'silver bullet'.
