摘要

Exploratory abdominal surgery is performed commonly in primary and referral practices. Better diagnostic modalities, sophisticated anesthesia techniques, and pharmaceutical agents, specialty sugnical training, improved postoperative care, and early detection of complications have improved survival rates. Still, abdominal surgery has a high incidence of secondary complications that may lead to morbidity and mortality. This article focuses on new ways to prevent and treat postoperative complications in the horse undergoing colic surgery.
