In vitro antibiotic sensitivity of Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale strains from poultry and wild birds

ORNITHOBACTERIUM rhinotracheale has been described by Vandamme and others (1994) based on strains from the respiratory tract of diseased turkeys, chickens, partridges and rooks. Similar but unnamed organisms have been reported as a cause of respiratory disease in chickens and turkeys by Charlton and others (1993) and Hafez and others (1993). Hinz and others (1994) gave a description of exudative pneumonia and airsacculitis in turkeys caused by O rhinotracheale, and van Beek and others (1994) found respiratory problems, growth depression and arthritis to be associated with this bacterium in chickens and turkeys.
