FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg warns against allow ing the budget sequester to be implemented and hints a potential effects the cuts could have on the agency. Hamburg told a meeting of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA on Feb. 5 that the prospective government funding cuts- now slated to go into effect March 1- could result in reduced facility inspections and slowed implementation of user fee and other programs. She also reminded the advocacy group that the agency relies on personnel more than other agencies to implement and run its programs.
