AGGRESSIVE lipid lowering with highdose atorvastatin(Lipitor)can halt atherosclerosis progression,researchers report.The trial results have led Dr Steven Nissen,principal investigator and medical director of the cleveland Clinic Cardiovascular Co-ordinating Centre,Ohio,to speculate that more intensive lipid lowering than is currently recommended may be appropriate in patients with coronary disearse.
