Brand versus generic prescribing of calcium-channel blockers

Asurvey published in the British Fournal of Cardiology (1999;6:168) suggests that many general practitioners are prescribing modified-release preparations of calcium channel blockers generically. This is despite the plicy of the Medicines Control Agency (MCA) that they should all be prescribed by brand name.
