The future of pharmacy: you couldn't make it up

Recent letters by Mr Hickey (P proud, June 19, p878), regarding the omission of formulae for extem-poraneous preparations in the new 'Martindale', and by Mr Fawdry (P proud, July 10, p56), suggesting that the existence of specials manfacturers obviates the need for pharmacists to compound such products themselves, highlight an issue which we believe is fundamental to the debate about pharmacy's continued existence in its present form and its future development.
