Archaeologists and anthropologists gathered in Gibraltar recently to pursue the intriguing question of the culture enjoyed by our distant cousins,the Neanderthalers,over whom there has been ample argument across the past few decades.It was a particularly appropriate rendezvous for such a meeting,since the skull of Homo sapiens neanderthalis was unearthed in a quarry on the Rock of Gibraltar in 1848,the first of many to come.
